Blood Sugar Level Really High During Vet Visits

It’s called Stress Hyperglycemia.

Some cats (including Teddy) will have their blood glucose levels go through the roof during vet visits. We took Teddy to a new vet a few days ago (Teddy is fine). When the tech was reviewing Teddy’s blood work with us she was concerned that his blood glucose level qwas about 250 and was about to recommend some serious treatment. That’s when I told her that Teddy suffers from Stress Hyperglycemia and that we always rely only upon his A1C level to judge his diabetites.
